Create a General App in the same account that hosts your meetings
At launch, rooms work with Zoom through its Meeting SDK. Sign in at marketplace.zoom.us with the same Zoom account that hosts your meetings and create a General App. An app in a different account will not work.
- 2
Turn the Meeting SDK on
In your app, open Features → Embed and switch Meeting SDK on. “Use public client OAuth” is not this switch — leave it off.
- 3
Activate the app: Local Test → Add App Now
This activates the app on your account. Skipping this step (or the one before) causes the “Signature is invalid” (3712) error.
- 4
Add the redirect URL and the host-token scope
In your app's OAuth settings, add this redirect URL exactly: https://brandedrooms.com/api/br/oauth/callback. Under Scopes, add the scope that lets the app read your host token (ZAK) and your user profile, so your branded room can start the meeting as you, inside your dashboard.
- 5
Paste your Client ID and Client Secret, then connect
Paste both into your room settings (Connect your meeting account) and press Connect my meeting account. You sign in to Zoom once and approve the app; the room keeps an encrypted token so the big green Go Live button can start your meeting right inside your dashboard — no desktop app, no second window. The secret is stored encrypted and only ever shown masked.
- 6
Set the meeting and the passcode
Paste your meeting link or number, and enter the passcode people type — not the long pwd= code from the link. Keep the passcode on (guests never type it; the room passes it for them) and Zoom's own waiting room off; your branded lobby does the waiting.
- 7
Set capacity to your licence
Everyone inside your room counts toward your Zoom licence's participant limit — 100, 300, 500 or 1,000. Set it so the room warns you before it's full. Need more? Add a Large Meetings or Webinar licence, or plan an overflow livestream.
- 8
Test before the real thing
Open the room on a second device or a private window as a guest. In your dashboard, press Go Live · Branded Room — it starts the meeting as host inside the page and opens the doors in one press. Fire an effect and check it plays with sound, and check the guest appears in your attendee list.
“Signature is invalid” (3712)
The app's Meeting SDK isn't enabled or activated yet. Go to your app → Features → Embed and turn Meeting SDK on, then Local Test → Add App Now. The app must live in the same Zoom account that hosts the meeting.
“Meeting has not started” (3008)
Guests are waiting for the host. With your meeting account connected, Go Live starts the meeting as host inside your dashboard. If the account isn't connected yet, the host must start the meeting in the Zoom app first (or turn on join-before-host).
“Connect my meeting account” fails
Check that the redirect URL in your app matches https://brandedrooms.com/api/br/oauth/callback exactly, that the host-token scope is added, and that you approve the app while signed in to the same Zoom account that hosts your meetings.
Passcode or waiting room
Zoom requires every meeting to have a passcode or a waiting room. Recommended for branded rooms:
- Passcode ON, saved in your room settings
- Zoom's waiting room OFF
- Use the typed passcode, not the pwd= token
Effects and recordings
Confetti and effects play over the meeting on your guests' screens in the room page. Zoom's cloud or local recording doesn't include them — screen-record the room page if you want them in a replay.
