Why effects are not in the recording
BrandedRooms runs your meeting inside your own web page. When you press one of the effect keys 1–5 in the host control panel, the room plays that effect on the page, over the top of the meeting, on every in-room viewer's screen at the same moment. The meeting itself never sees it.
Your meeting platform records what happens inside the meeting: the video, the audio, the shared screens. The effects live one layer up, on the page around the meeting. That is what lets them land for everyone at once, with sound, without anyone sharing a screen. It is also why the platform's recording does not include them.
Who sees the effects live
Everyone watching on your room page sees and hears each effect at the same moment, whether they are on a laptop, a tablet or a phone browser. Guests who joined through their own desktop meeting app with the plain meeting link do not see them, because they are in the meeting but not on your page. If the moment matters, such as a launch reveal or an award, send the room link as your main link so most guests are on the page when you fire the confetti.
How to get effects into a replay
If a replay with the celebration in it matters to you, capture the room page rather than the meeting.
- Use a screen recorder on a host or producer computer that is watching the room page, not the meeting app.
- Record the browser window or the whole screen, with system audio on, so the sounds come through.
- Join that recording computer as a guest on a second device if you need your own screen free for presenting.
- Keep the platform's own recording running too. It gives you clean meeting audio and video as a backup.
- Do a short test the day before: fire one effect, stop the recording, and check that both picture and sound are there.
Choosing which recording to share
You will often end up with two files, and each has a job. The platform's recording is the clean, reliable record of what was said, which suits training archives, board minutes and anything where accuracy matters more than atmosphere. The room-page recording carries the feeling of the event: the countdown, the confetti on the big announcement, the applause at the end. That suits celebrations, launches, community calls and social clips.
For many hosts the right answer is both: send the clean recording as the replay, and cut a short clip of the room-page moment for social posts or the follow-up email.
A short run of show for a recorded celebration
Here is a simple plan that works for a launch, an award or a business birthday when you want both a live party and a good replay.
- Ten minutes before: start the screen recorder on the room page and the platform recording in the meeting app.
- Doors open: start the meeting as host, then press Start the room so every waiting guest joins at once.
- Welcome: fire applause as you greet everyone, and say out loud that you are glad they came.
- The big moment: count down together, then fire confetti or rockets on the reveal.
- Close: one last round of applause, then stop both recordings after the goodbye.
Planning effects with the replay in mind
If you know you will share a replay, plan the effects like a director would. Fire them at clear moments, such as a reveal, a welcome or a winner's name, rather than constantly, so the replay has a rhythm. Say what is happening out loud as you fire each one, for example: let's give them a round of applause. That way even the clean platform recording makes sense to someone who watches it later without the effects.
