Why your own domain matters
An address is part of your brand. When a client, member or employee sees a link on your own domain, they know who sent it before they click. It looks like the rest of your website, it reads cleanly in an email, and it is easy to say out loud at the end of a call: join us at live dot your company dot com.
It also matters for trust inside companies. Some teams are wary of unfamiliar links, and an address on your own domain removes one reason for a guest to hesitate. And because the address is yours, you can reuse it for every event: the same link for the monthly community call, the quarterly all-hands or the weekly class.
Subdomain or main domain
Most hosts use a subdomain, a short word in front of the domain they already own. It keeps your main website exactly as it is and gives the room its own clear home.
- live.yourcompany.com for webinars and launches.
- room.yourcompany.com or meet.yourcompany.com for a general meeting room.
- events.yourcompany.com if you run a regular programme of sessions.
- A word that matches your brand voice, such as studio, class or club, for coaches and creators.
How setup works
On a Branded Room, you add the domain in your room settings, then add a DNS record with whoever manages your domain, usually your domain registrar or website host. The setup page lists the exact record to add. Once the record takes effect, which can take a little while depending on your provider, the room loads on your address. Our custom domain setup guide walks through each step and the usual sticking points. If someone else manages your domain, send them that page; it is a short job for them.
What stays the same on your domain
Everything about the room works the same on your address: the branded waiting room with its countdown and add-to-calendar button, guests joining in the browser, Start the room, live effects, guest capture, the offers rail, the attendee list and the follow-up. Your meeting still runs on your own meeting account and licence. The domain changes the address in the browser bar, not how the meeting behaves.
Before you pick the name
Choose an address you will be happy to use for years, because you will print it on slides, say it on calls and put it in email signatures. Check it is short, has no hyphens that are hard to say, and does not clash with anything your website already uses. Ask whoever runs your website or IT before adding the record, so nobody is surprised by a new address on the company domain.
Which plans include your own domain
The free 30-day trial and the Generic Room live on a brandedrooms.com address, in BrandedRooms style. They are a good way to run the room on a real meeting and get the setup right. When the room is ready to carry your brand everywhere, move to the Branded Room: your own domain or subdomain, your logo, colours and fonts, CRM and email hookups, the offers rail and follow-up funnels, with the BrandedRooms badge removed. Custom Deluxe goes further, with its own command center and custom music and effects. Running many rooms on many domains, or white-label for clients, is available through our team. Our pricing page lists what each plan costs.
